Yusuf / Cat Stevens teilt Manifest für König Charles III – neue Single „King of a Land“ aus dem kommenden neuen Studioalbum ‚King of a Land’/ VÖ 16. Juni 2023

In einem brandneuen Song mit dem Titel „King of a Land“ trägt, spricht Yusufs Text eine deutliche Frustration über den Zustand der postmodernen Welt aus: “If I was a king of a land, I’d free every woman and man…If I ran the schools of this world…If I had a mountain of gold.”

Im Vorfeld der Krönung von König Charles III. gibt Yusuf seiner Hoffnung Ausdruck, dass der neue Monarch seine Rolle nutzen wird um die Zukunft des Landes und der Welt positiv zu beeinflussen. “While politicians bicker and scrum in the basement quarters, somebody upstairs should be watching where those political party goers are taking us. Frankly, democracy needs a bit of dusting.” klagt Yusuf.

“One of the privileges of being an artist is to express what seems unimaginable, and then hang it up there for people to ponder; we can say things that others can’t. Sure, I know full well music can’t necessarily solve the world’s problems, but it can help to direct the narrative. There are a few aspirations in my song, “King of a Land”, that I hope resonate with His Majesty.

In einer respektvollen Botschaft an König Charles III. hat Yusuf / Cat Stevens „A Manifesto for a Good King“ veröffentlicht, in dem er 10 wesentliche Punkte auflistet, die seiner Meinung nach alle Staatsoberhäupter berücksichtigen sollten. Yusuf wird sich auch direkt an den zukünftigen König wenden, um ihm seine Botschaft mitzuteilen.

2. Remove hatred through education and spread peace.

6. Beware of negative people in your circle.

9. Listen to constructive criticism.
10. Be a guardian to all faiths, and the precious Earth we all share.

Der neue Song, der auch der Titel des kommenden neuen Albums von Yusuf / Cat Stevens ist, erzählt die Geschichte, die in der wunderschönen Illustration auf dem Cover des Albums zu finden ist, die von dem NY Times #1 Bestseller Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds in Zusammenarbeit mit Yusuf geschaffen wurde. Der Song ist in einem brandneuen Musikvideo verewigt, das ebenfalls heute veröffentlicht wurde und in dem sowohl Yusufs Text als auch Reynolds‘ Illustrationen zum Leben erweckt werden. Es ist die Geschichte eines kleinen Jungen, der sich vorstellt, was er tun würde, wenn er König eines Landes namens „Woodbee“ wäre. Der kindliche Glaube und die Träume werden wieder in greifbare Nähe gerückt, während Yusuf uns auf eine neue Reise mitnimmt. Seine Stimme, seine Worte und seine atemberaubenden Melodien führen den Zuhörer zu den Toren einer viel schöneren, optimistischeren Welt als der, die wir derzeit bewohnen.

Die Veröffentlichung von „King of a Land“ findet inmitten einer Welle von Feierlichkeiten statt, dicht gefolgt von der Ankündigung des Glastonbury Festival-Debüts von Yusuf / Cat Stevens. Der Auftritt findet am 25. Juni statt, wo er auf der Pyramid Stage den begehrten Platz der Sunday Tea-Time-Legenden einnehmen wird. Der Auftritt findet nur einen Monat vor Yusufs 75. Geburtstag statt und folgt unmittelbar auf die Veröffentlichtung seines siebzehnten Studioalbums.

Die erste Single „Take The World Apart“ wurde bereits von der Times als “an optimistic work of which this closing track is the hopeful pinnacle” bezeichnet. NME nannte Yusuf “an icon” und das MOJO Magazine sagte „King of a Land has royalty in its sights“.

King of a Land wird am 16. Juni 2023 über BMG / Dark Horse Records veröffentlicht. Das Album kann auf grünem Vinyl im Gatefold-Format mit einem 36-seitigen Booklet mit Illustrationen von Peter Reynolds vorbestellt werden.
